Winter wellness tea recipes

I love teas! They are not only soothing and comforting, but super powerful plant allies.
I grew up with wild harvested teas that my grandmother used to create in Greece. She had a tea remedy for every ailment.
Over the years I have come to rely on some classic tea recipes that always deliver. Below are four of my favorite tea remedies to help support your immune system, pacify a sore throat, or just relieve a indigestion.
Immune Boosting Tea
- 1 Tbsp elderflower
- 1 Tbsp rosehips
- ¼-½ inch freshly grated ginger root
- Grated cinnamon to taste
Boil 8-12 ounces filtered water, add Immune Boosting Tea blend, and allow to steep for approximately 10-15 minutes (the longer you steep the tea, the more potent it will be). Strain and enjoy.
Sore throat remedy tea
- 1 Tbsp fresh sages (or 1 tsp dried sage leaves)
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Raw honey to taste
Boil 8 ounces of filtered water, steep sage leaves for approximately 3-5 minutes. Strain, and add lemon juice and raw honey. Enjoy.
Digestive issues (Kapha vitiation)
- 1 quart of filtered water
- 1-2 inches freshly grated ginger
- Pinch of Cayenne
- 1-2 tsp rock salt
- Raw honey to taste
- 4 cups filtered water
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
Combine all ingredients (except for lime juice) in a pot and bring to boil.
Pour into a thermos and sip throughout the day to improve Agni (digestive fires).
Detox Tea
- ¼ tsp anise seeds
- ¼ tsp fennel seeds
- ¼ tsp cardamom seeds
- ¼ tsp coriander seeds
- ¼ tsp celery seeds
- ¼ tsp licorice root
- 8-12 ounces filtered water
Place all the herbs in a tea ball or tea bag and steep in boiled water for several minutes, until desired flavor intensity of tea is reached.
Let me know which ones you tried and how you enjoyed them. I love hearing from you!
