The ultimate self care is creating your very own facial oil ELIXIR. Oil is not only a natural food source for your skin, it also nourishes, feeds, protects, and prevents accelerated aging of the skin.
Two of my absolute favorite oils for keeping the face clear, supple, and well hydrated are jojoba oil (if you skin is more mature), and Tamanu oil (for damaged skin caused by acne or sun damage, for example). You can alternate between the two depending on your facial needs.
Rose essential oil helps to lift the spirits and reduce depression (making it very effective for the long winter months), is anti-inflammatory, evens out skin tone, promotes a healthy complexion, and balances the moisture in your skin, making it a favorite for the face.
Here’s an easy face elixir recipe you can create at home this winter for THE most luxurious oil you will ever put on your face. The following recipe makes approximately 4 ounces:
- 6 tablespoons Jojoba or Tamanu oil
- oil from 5 capsules of vitamin E
- 5-10 drops of rose essential oil
Stir the oils together in a dark glass bottle with a dropper, and allow the ingredients to ‘marinate’ and ‘synergize’ in a dark, cool location for at least 24 hours before applying to face.
Massage the Rose Elixir into your skin after cleansing, working from bottom to top. Take this opportunity to massage your face a few minutes longer in order to tone and increase blood flow to your face.
Store your bottle in a dark location and use within 6 months – although you’ll go through it much faster than that because you’ll absolutely LOVE how it makes your skin look & feel!
