Diwali: A Cosmic dance of Light & New Beginnings
As the night sky darkens with the New Moon, Diwali ignites our world with countless twinkling lights. This celestial timing is no coincidence – it marks a powerful reset in the cosmic calendar.
The New Moon represents the end of one lunar cycle and the birth of another. The New Moon during Diwali indeed represents a time of low Shakti (energy) and increased influence of Saturn and Rahu.
This celestial alignment creates a unique opportunity for spiritual practices and remedies. In Vedic Astrology, this transition symbolizes the perfect moment to release the old and welcome new energies into our lives. It’s a time when the veil between the physical and spiritual realms is the thinnest, making our intentions and actions especially potent.
The act of lighting lamps during Diwali, especially on this New Moon night, is more than just tradition – it’s a powerful astrological remedy.
Each diya (ghee lamp) we light serves to:
- Counteract the low Shakti of the Moon
- Balance the intensified energies of Saturn and Rahu
- Symbolize the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance
Light up your spiritual practice & your life with these Vedic Astrology remedies (for beginners):
- I highly recommend you attend a Lakshmi Puja during the auspicious Pradosh Kaal, typically 2 hours before and after sunset on Diwali night. This is considered an optimal time to invoke Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings for prosperity.
- Light 13 Diyas: Place 13 oil lamps around your home – 12 representing the zodiac houses and 1 for your inner self. This practice balances energies and illuminates all aspects of your life
- Offer Yellow Flowers: Present marigolds or yellow chrysanthemums to Goddess Lakshmi, to attract wealth and success during this receptive time.
- Chant the Lakshmi Beeja Mantra “Om Shreem Hreem Shreem” 108 times. During this low energy period, mantras can be particularly potent in invoking abundance.
- Place a small bowl of rice in the puja area or place of worship in your home, as rice symbolizes prosperity in Vedic astrology.
As you celebrate Diwali this year, remember – each light you kindle isn’t just brightening your home; it’s illuminating your path forward, dispelling the shadows of the past, and opening the way for new beginnings.
Happy Diwali!
