24 Detox and de-bloating protocol to flatten your belly!

So many of my clients want to know how to ditch that annoying belly bloat and indigestion and trade that in for feeling and looking pretty darn amazing. Let’s be honest – passing gas at the dinner table is just not something anyone wants to deal with! Which is why I created this e-guide just for you. I want you to have the same tools I use in my own life when I feel bloated and blah.

Can you imagine a flatter belly overnight? I can! Too often, we pack on extra “inflammation” because of the high allergen foods we consume. Many of us combine foods in meals that have no business being combined, which can lead to poor digestion, belly bloat, and weight gain.

So many of my clients think they are eating foods that are “really healthy” but these foods are packing on the pounds. Did you know eating a food that many people are commonly allergic or intolerant to can lead to extra weight gain and belly bloat?

Over the next 24 hours, you will ditch foods that can lead to toxic waste in the body. These foods can cause bloating, inflammation, headaches, and more so let’s get going on this ASAP – and get you feeling fabulous!

Are you ready?

DETOXING OVERNIGHT

Our bodies are detoxing themselves naturally all the time to prevent us from getting sick. However, the toxins present in our modern world are putting increasing demands on the body’s detoxification pathways. When the system gets overloaded, we can experience one or more of the following.

  • Inflammation
  • Thyroid issues
  • Headaches
  • Adult acne
  • Belly bloat
  • Weight gain or weight loss
  • Allergies (chemical or food)
  • Poor sleep
  • Loss of sex drive
  • Mood swings, anxiety, depression
  • IBS or constipation
  • Diabetes, cancer, or other diseases…

Detoxing daily supports your liver, which has 500 metabolic jobs to empty out the toxic waste that hampers weight loss and leads to belly bloat.

This does not mean you need to starve. I am giving you a simple 24-hour plan to take care of your body and flatten your belly.

Eating healthy proteins that are free of nitrates and hormones is essential for weight loss.

 

My favorite clean proteins are:

Beans

Organic Tempeh (only if you can tolerate soy and do not have thyroid issues)

Hemp protein

Nutritional yeast

Spirulina

Chicken

Turkey

Wild game

Fish – salmon, sardines, halibut, and other fish that is low in mercury

 

During the next 24 hours, try these two simple ways to flatten your belly as fast as a New York second:

  1. DRY SKIN BRUSHING: I dry skin brush every morning. As the largest detox organ, the skin is vital for healthy detoxification. You can purchase a skin brush at Whole Foods, on amazon.com, or simply use a dry towel.

HOW TO SKIN BRUSH:

  • Use a dry brush before you shower or bathe.
  • Always brush toward your heart, with the flow of the lymphatic fluid.
  • Begin at the soles of your feet and then move up your legs, brushing in a circular motion.
  • Brush your chest and shoulders toward your heart in long strokes, and then start at the fingertips and brush toward your body. Use small, circular strokes in your armpits.
  • It is suggested that you move in a circular motion counterclockwise on your stomach to respect the direction of digestion and encourage detoxification.
  • Follow with a shower or bath using an all-natural soap.
  1. EPSOM SALT BATH: I take a bath at least 4 times a week because we need magnesium for good digestion, and healthy detoxification, which leads to weight loss and a flatter belly.

Soaking for 20 minutes in an Epsom salt bath is a wonderful way to detoxify the body and relax the soul. Add 1/4 cup Epsom salts, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup sea salt, 1/4 cup raw apple cider vinegar (optional), and a few drops of lavender to a warm bath. Enjoy a nice cup of herbal tea, such as nettle, during or after your bath.

DIGESTION + INFLAMMATION

If you eat food that does not digest properly, you will experience inflammation or sluggishness. During the next 24 hours, you are giving your digestion a rest with the simple meals I have suggested.

Mark Hyman, MD, says, “Most of us (including most doctors) do not recognize or know that digestive problems wreak havoc in the entire body, leading to allergies, arthritis, autoimmune disease, rashes, acne, chronic fatigue, mood disorders, autism, dementia, cancer, and more. So having a healthy gut means more than simply being free of annoyances like bloating or heartburn! It is absolutely central to your health. It is connected to EVERYTHING that happens in your body.

Let’s take the next 24 hours to improve the quality of your digestion, and that will lessen the belly bloat.

 

FOOD COMBINING & WEIGHT LOSS

Many of my clients who have suffered from belly bloat and digestive distress have found it helpful to experiment with food combining. The majority of the recipes in this program are properly food combined to ensure your digestive system is absorbing the nutrients properly, and enzymes are not competing with one another. Many have found candida, weight issues, and even the sugar cravings fade away when they properly combine foods. Experiment with your food diary and test the theory for yourself.

 

There are simple rules of food combining which optimize digestion:
EAT FRUIT ALONE: Fruit digests best by itself, passing through the digestive system within 20 minutes. By eating fruit alone, you avoid fermentation occurring in your belly. Fermentation can lead to gas, rob you of energy, and slow down your digestion.
EAT STARCHES WITH VEGETABLES: Foods such as baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, or corn should be eaten alone, with a vegetable, or with a small amount of fat. It is advised to eat starches, such as quinoa, buckwheat, brown rice, millet, and amaranth only with vegetables, as starches require different digestive enzymes than proteins.
EAT PROTEIN WITH VEGETABLES: Unlike starches, proteins require an acidic environment for ideal digestion, so it is best to eat protein with vegetables and a healthy fat. When you add a starch, you force your body’s natural enzymes to compete to digest your food.

 

Welcome to Your 24 Hour Flatten Your Belly Plan:

BREAKFAST

Morning Sunshine Smoothie

  • 1 medium cucumber chopped
  • 1 grapefruit
  • 1 orange
  • 2 cups filtered water (use warm water if you need to drink your smoothie warm due to low digestive fires)
  • Add your favorite protein powder (mine is Vega)

Blend and enjoy.

 

LUNCH

AVOCADO SALAD WITH LIME DRESSING  (Makes 2 Servings)

  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • 6-8 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 medium cucumber, chopped
  • 1 avocado, diced

LIME DRESSING

  • 2 limes, juiced
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon raw apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper

PREPARE THE DRESSING. Add your lime juice, ground cumin, raw apple cider vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and black pepper in a small bowl. Whisk the ingredients until well blended. Set to the side.

MIX THE SALAD. Add baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and avocado to a bowl. Top with lime dressing and serve immediately.

 

DINNER

FEELING THE BELLY BLOAT GONE SALAD  (Makes 4 servings)

  • 3 cups chopped broccoli, steamed
  • 1 tangerine, peeled with segments separated
  • Handful of parsley
  • Fennel slices (optional)
  • ½ cup grape tomatoes
  • 1 large cucumber, diced or sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • ⅛ cup pumpkin seeds

Chop the broccoli, fennel, parsley, cucumber, and grape tomatoes. Then peel the tangerines and separate into segments. Add the tangerine, avocado, and pumpkin seeds and drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar, and lemon.

Toss the salad so it is coated and feel free to squeeze extra lemon for a nice refreshing detox salad.

 

DRINK YOURSELF SKINNY DETOX WATER

Drink yourself skinny and flatten your belly with this drink. Not only can you flush away toxicity, but you can also add vital nutrients and minerals to your water.

½ gallon water
1 grapefruit, sliced (can substitute with one lemon)
1 tangerine, sliced (can substitute with orange)
1 large cucumber, sliced
10-20 peppermint leaves

Rinse grapefruit, tangerine, cucumber, and peppermint leaves. Slice the cucumber, grapefruit, and tangerine. Then combine all ingredients in a half gallon pitcher. Allow ingredients to sit as long as possible for maximum benefits.

Keep it simple! If you want to make another combination for optimal detox and weight loss, you can. Simply take a large pitcher or other water safe container, and fill with filtered water. Add fresh fruits (cut the fruit into paper-thin slices or small chunks), mint for extra natural flavoring and stevia or pure raw honey for sweetness. Refrigerate your Detox Water for 4-6 hours and serve over ice. Drink this skinny drink all day and flush the Belly Bloat away.

Enjoy my favorite flatten the belly snack:

KALE CHIPS (Makes 2-3 servings)

1 bunch kale (lacinato or curly variety)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked OR sweet paprika

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon sea salt

½ teaspoon black pepper
PREHEAT THE OVEN to 300° Fahrenheit.

PREPARE THE KALE. Wash and dry the kale. Rip the kale into bite-sized pieces and place it in a mixing bowl. Add the remaining seasonings and mix well.

BAKE THE KALE. Bake the kale for 20 minutes and serve immediately.

You can also have a piece of fruit,  green juice, or some herbal tea as a snack.

I cannot wait to hear how you feel. I know when I take one day to reset my body, I feel amazing. Imagine how you would feel if you did this plan for a longer period of time.
